Meet the team
Claire joined in Action in 2005, and has been Chief Executive since 2013. Previous roles at Action have included Business Development Manager, Head of HR and Regional Manager. Claire also enjoyed some time running our services in Derby, Staffordshire, Rotherham, Derbyshire and Doncaster. This breadth of experience means that Claire has a deep understanding of the whole charity, and direct understanding of the needs of the people who use our services. Key projects that Claire has led include the set up of our Rotherham Young Persons Service, overseeing our move in to providing Domestic Abuse services and co-ordinating our expansion into development and refurbishment of empty and commercial property in order to provide good quality homes.
Claire is a serial studier, with a law degree, an MA in Social Policy and Criminology and a Post-graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.
Dave has been with Action since 2010, holding roles in Client Services and Asset Development before assuming his current role. Before joining Action, Dave was a Regimental Sergeant Major in the Royal Engineers and ran his own construction firm. Dave has been instrumental in delivering our move into developing homes – and is a passionate advocate of our HOPE methodology. Dave has led a huge number of building projects, but recent achievements include the refurbishment of the former Miners Institute in Clowne, a flagship development, alongside several other major projects. His portfolio has recently expanded to cover the leadership of our Housing Services section.
Rebecca has a wide range of experience working both operationally and strategically in housing and housing support across both the voluntary and statutory sectors since the early 90’s. She joined Action in January 2015 after working jointly at North East Derbyshire District Council and Bolsover District Council as the Housing Strategy & Growth Manager. Rebecca Developed one of the first rent deposit schemes in the UK, working for a charity in Bolton, which became an example of good practice for newly emerging rent deposit schemes across the country in the 90’s.
Jill has been with Action since 2007, as Action’s Head of Finance. Jill joined from Rotherham MBC, and previously worked at South Yorkshire Probation. She’s overseen major changes in the operating environment of the charity, and been a steady presence in our leadership team since joining. Jill holds the position of Company Secretary at Action and also leads our Business Support Team. Jill’s recent projects include the implementation of major new housing software and the centralisation of our administration services. Jill has an Advanced Diploma In Management accounting and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Jill has recently been accepted as a member of the South Yorkshire Local Pensions Board.
